Thigh Lift (Buttock Lift)
Thigh Lift Mobile Alabama – Thigh Lift
Are you a candidate for a thigh lift? Mobile Alabama plastic surgeon explains how this procedure works.
You may be a candidate for a thigh lift or buttock lift if you have flaccid or sagging skin of the thighs or buttocks from significant weight loss, loss of skin elasticity as the result of aging, or lipodystrophy “riding breeches” deformity. The results are aimed at providing tighter more attractive thigh and buttock skin, improving contours, and decreasing irregularities of the skin surface.
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis unless otherwise advised by the surgeon. There is a wide variation in the design of the incisions that are used to meet individual’s clothing or personal desires.
Lifting the inner thighs requires only short incisions extending from the anterior part of the thigh/groin crease around to the buttock crease. Circumferential skin laxity from large weight loss may require an incision on the inner thigh down to the knee. Lateral or anterior thigh lifts can be performed as separate procedures if desired.
Lifting the entire thigh and buttock (circumferential lower body lift) will require much longer incisions that start in the buttock crease, extend around the groin, up over the side of the abdomen, over the flank and across the back.
The buttocks can be lifted with upper or lower scars. Bruising and swelling usually subside within a month; strenuous activities are usually possible in 6 weeks and almost all symptoms are gone in 4–6 months.
After your thigh lift, Mobile Alabama plastic surgeons will give you detailed instructions for optimal post-op recovery. Follow your surgeon’s instructions carefully to maximize healing.
