Laurie Koehler, BA, MA – Personal Assistant, Marketing
Laurie is the wife of Dr. Koehler. She previously taught Kindergarten in Gadsden, Alabama but now focuses all her time on their 3 children and the practice at Eastern Shore Cosmetic Surgery. She works closely with the staff to plan events both in and out of the office. She deals with many of the behind the scenes administrative duties of the office as well as the general marketing of the practice. Laurie has a warm smile and a great sense of humor.
Denvia Potter – Surgical Coordinator
Denvia will make the process of scheduling surgery a pleasurable one. She is a caring and compassionate person who will coordinate all aspects of your surgery. She is very knowledgeable and can answer many of your questions and relieve your concerns regarding the process of surgery. She is experienced and can assist you in obtaining financing if needed. Denvia is dedicated to making sure that people are well informed prior to surgery in order to make their recovery as easy as possible.
Kim Mattox – Scheduling/Patient Coordinator
Kim will assist you in scheduling your initial consultation and preparing you for your first visit to our practice. She is knowledgeable in all the procedures we perform and can help you with questions regarding general costs and the consultation process. Kim does her best to make your visit to our office a pleasant experience. She will try her best to accommodate your scheduling needs. She also can assist you with the various skin care products and scar treatments that we offer.
Mandy Burns, RN, BSN Nurse Manager, Circulating Nurse
Mandy has extensive experience as an operating room circulating nurse. She worked for a number of years at the Kirklin Clinic Outpatient Surgery Center in Birmingham, and locally at Thomas Hospital and Thomas Medical Center. Mandy is an attentive nurse that cares deeply for patients to ensure their safety in the operating room. She maintains high standards regarding infection control and sterility. She is caring and takes pride in delivering the highest level of care.
Sarah Hovater, RN, MSN – Recovery
Sarah is a highly trained nurse with years of recovery experience. Sarah is originally from Florence, Alabama where she worked at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital for over 10 years. Sarah received her master’s in nursing education from the University of North Alabama and is passionate about patient education. Sarah utilizes her years of critical care experience to recover each patient safely and with the highest level of care.
Cheryl Smith, LPN – Laser Technician
Cheryl is an experienced laser technician and nurse. She has been doing laser treatments for hair removal, photo rejuvenation, spider vein laser treatments and other laser treatments for many years. Cheryl has extensive experience with lasers and can treat many conditions under the supervision of Dr. Koehler. She is highly skilled and can answer all your questions and concerns regarding laser treatments as well as facials, superficial chemical peels, and general skin care.
Layne Wheeler – Scrub Technologist
Layne is a certified scrub technologist with more than a decade of experience. She assists Dr. Koehler in surgery and cares for patients in clinic as well. Layne is responsible for preparing the operating room and sterilization of instrumentation. She enjoys taking care of patients and sharing in their experience from start to finish.
Danielle McCord, BA – CoolSculpting Team Leader
Originally from Mobile, Alabama, Danielle has her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Mississippi, where she was a Varsity cheerleader. Her infectious enthusiasm came with her when she joined our practice as the CoolSculpting Team Leader. Also a Pure Barre instructor, Danielle has extensive knowledge of the body, which aides her in performing CoolSculpting procedures.
William Staggers, MD – Founder, Plastic Surgeon
Dr. Staggers founded this practice in 1997 after completing his plastic surgery training at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He is a board certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the Southeastern Society for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Staggers turned over his practice and the care of his patients to Dr. Koehler in March of 2014. Although he is no longer operating, he maintains a role as a consultant and is still a large part of what makes Eastern Shore Cosmetic Surgery the great facility it is. Dr. Staggers is known for his down to earth approachability and commitment to quality care.
