As your breast lift surgery nears, you are probably wondering what you can do right now to help the procedure and recovery go as smoothly as possible. Fortunately, you can start these breast lift prep tips as soon as you’d like to help you get ready for the big day.
Adopt Healthy Living Habits
Eating healthy, getting regular exercise, drinking plenty of water and getting the right amount of sleep are all excellent habits to adopt for your overall health. But practicing these habits before your breast lift can have even more benefits, like giving your body an extra boost before and after surgery. It’ll also help you prepare for eating nutritious meals and staying hydrated while you recover.
Cut out Tobacco and Alcohol
Dr. Koehler will ask that you stop using all tobacco products several weeks before your breast lift. It’s important to take this guideline seriously, as tobacco use increases the risk of complications during and after surgery.
You should also limit your alcohol consumption in the weeks leading up to your breast lift, and then cut it out completely in the days right before your surgery. As you recover from your breast lift, Dr. Koehler will ask that you avoid tobacco and alcohol for a few more weeks.
Let Dr. Koehler know about any prescription medications you currently take prior to your breast lift surgery.
Follow Specific Pre-Op Instructions
In addition to tobacco and alcohol, there will be some medications and supplements that you should avoid taking for at least 10 days before your breast enhancement procedure. Dr. Koehler will provide a list of these medications, but the most notable include NSAIDs, warfarin, vitamin E and St. John’s wort.
Other pre-operative instructions might include things like what to eat and not eat right before surgery, when to take any prescription medications you might be on and what to wear on the day of your breast lift.
