After any surgery, there will be soreness, stiffness, numbness and other sensations, not all of which you will be expecting. This leaves many wondering what is normal and what is not.
So, what about tingling after liposuction? Is this a normal sensation to experience after surgery?
Typical Post-Liposuction Sensations
In the days following surgery, the sensations you experience might seem a little strange. However, they are likely perfectly normal.
Perhaps the most common and most expected sensation to experience is discomfort. However, this is usually controlled by pain medication. Discomfort tends to ease within 48 hours of surgery.
Numbness is another common sensation experienced in the area of treatment This happens because liposuction techniques disrupt the small nerve fibers that run through your fat layers to reach the skin.
In nearly all cases, this numbness is temporary. However, as these nerve fibers begin to heal, this numbness is replaced with tingling, which is why some people note tingling after liposuction, even months later. However, it is rarely concerning.
Bruising and swelling are also common after liposuction, and they bring with them their own sensations of soreness and stiffness. This tends to peak within 48 hours of the procedure and resolves in about 2 weeks.
