About Vivace
Vivace is FDA cleared for safety and efficacy. Vivace combines the latest generation of microneedling technology with radio frequency and LED therapy. This minimally invasive treatment works by stimulating your body’s natural collagen production to help:
- Alleviate fine lines and wrinkles
- Tighten and tone skin on the face, neck, hands and body

Microneedles are used to create microscopic channels deep within the dermis layer of the skin without damaging the outer layer of skin known as the epidermis. RF thermal energy is then precisely applied at varying depths for optimal stimulation of collagen production as well as to enhance skin laxity.
The LED Therapy uses pulses of blue and red light to encourage collagen production, increase moisture levels, improve skin tone and texture and disrupt acne bacteria.
What to Expect
Vivace RF microneedling treatment uses a revolutionary device with a precision robotic motor design intended to create the greatest results with the least amount of discomfort. Although Vivace is virtually painless, Dr. Koehler may apply a numbing cream prior to your treatment to ensure a more comfortable experience.
During your treatment, our highly qualified Vivace specialists will use the Vivace handpiece to safely treat the targeted area of skin. The head of the Vivace handpiece has several microneedles that will be placed on the skin’s surface. The microneedles will penetrate the skin, creating tiny channels which can help to activate the skin’s response system to produce new collagen, elastin and cellular repair. Depending on the size of the area being treated, each session takes about 45 minutes, with an additional 30 to 45 minutes needed for the numbing cream to take effect.
Risks and Complications
Vivace is minimally invasive, so the likelihood of complications is much lower compared to other surgical procedures. However, as with all cosmetic procedures, microneedling is not without risk. Most complications arise if there is already an active infection on the skin’s surface at the time of treatment.
The most common side effect is minor skin irritation immediately following the procedure.
Your New Look
Because of Vivace’s revolutionary, noninvasive design, most people require minimal downtime, if any at all. Feel free to return to your daily activities if you feel comfortable, just be sure you follow Dr. Koehler’s advice for post-treatment care. While the results are often immediate for skin tone and texture, there is also an improvement over a 3-month period as the process of collagen regeneration increases over time.
You may experience some mild redness and swelling for a few days following treatment, but this is not uncommon and usually subsides as your skin heals. Wait around six hours after treatment to apply makeup, and stay out of the sun as much as possible as your skin will be more sensitive.
As with most treatments, your experience will be unique to you. Although you may experience a noticeable improvement following your first treatment, your skin will continue to work to rejuvenate new tissue in the following weeks and months. So, as your body continues to produce more collagen, you can continue to see improvements for up to 6 months following your final treatment.
Although individual results vary, most people find that 2 to 3 treatments, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, provide the best outcomes. Dr. Koehler and his experienced team will advise you on the best plan of action to help achieve your aesthetic goals.
